Jane decided to keep being herself rather than pretending to make other people happy and displeasing herself. She would tell people the truth when they needed to hear it and would stop every form of gossip even before it started. If she couldn’t she would move away.

Although she was still her kind, friendly and jovial self, people didn’t appreciate the “truthful” side of her. As a result of this, she had a very shaky relationship with people she thought were her friends. Whenever she gets into an environment for the first time, she gets acquainted with many people. When the time comes to leave, we would be left with a few true friends.

Whose fault was it?

When some people go through this phase, they begin to wonder if the fault is from them. They wonder if they need to change something about themselves. Although it is good for individuals to take the time to access themselves, to see their weaknesses and how to improve on them, in this situation with Jane, the problem was not with her but people around her.

Jane decided to keep being herself rather than pretending to make other people happy and displeasing herself. She would tell people the truth when they needed to hear it. Those who are so proud of the many friends they have and can’t see the direction in which they are headed to have not even started. Your journey in life pertains to you and not everybody. It’s not about what people think but what God thinks. It’s not about what people will say but what God will say. Therefore, our aim should be about pleasing God irrespective of what people may say or do. Once you place God in the center of your being, things will start working for your good.

If you want to surrender to Jesus, take this salvation prayer.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today as a sinner, I surrender to you. Forgive me all my sins, wash me clean by your blood, and deliver me from the power of sin and death. I believe that you died for me and on the third day you rose again. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. Thank you Lord, for delivering me from the power of sin and death. I am delivered, I am saved and now a child of God.

Advice: Don’t be men-pleasers

Ephesians 6: 5-8

Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
