The sowing phase is the beginning of hard work. It is not attractive and requires encouragement sometimes. People waiting to harvest during the sowing phase are wasting their time because you can’t sow today and reap the same day or next day.

Sowing entails planting a seed on earth. Do you know that we are the planting of the Lord? Isaiah 61:3. Sowing a seed can be in the form of starting a course in school, starting a new business/program, giving to the needy, setting up a charitable program. Sowing means that you are putting something down with the hope of reaping the benefits later in life.

A number of times in the sowing phase, not only is your energy needed but also your resources. You gather up all you have with the hope of investing in something that will yield fruits in the future.

It is very vital to know if the seed you are planting/ sowing will yield a bountiful harvest so that your efforts and resources will not be in vain. But how can one know? Divine direction, letting God lead you. Not all investments and gifts are productive.

God has instructed us to give to the poor/needy but sometimes when we give to people who we think may be in need. Such people may end up turning their back on you or seeing you as their bank account i.e take one for granted. Despite this, we need to obey the command of giving so that we can receive the unmatchable blessing attached to it, we only need to learn to give right.

Bible Passages

Matthew 7:6 tells us not to place our pearls before swine. Deuteronomy 12: 11(NIV) says, “Then to the place the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name—there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the Lord”.

In the old testament (2 Kings), Jerusalem was the place where God ordained the altar of sacrifice to be and that was where it was. Later, shrines were built on the hills and people started sacrificing there too. The later development didn’t please God. When kings ruled Israel and Judah (both good and bad), there was usually a question mark of them not destroying the shrines on the hills until King Hezekiah finally destroyed it. In essence, we are not to give to everyone or invest in every or just anything.

Sowing and divine direction

To sow appropriately, the divine direction is essential. If you want to know the course to study, ask God, find time to seek the face of God so that you don’t end up studying a course that will be of no use to you later in life. The same goes for all other kinds of investment. Not everything that looks good is actually good. Also, people are doing it now and succeeding does not mean it will be fruitful tomorrow. Only God knows the end of a thing from the beginning. He is the only one that can direct you appropriately.

I heard a testimony of a rich man many years ago, who became rich through investments. This man was able to escape bad investments by listening carefully to what the Spirit of God would say per time. He would spend time with God and until he is convinced whether or not to invest, he wouldn’t take any step. We’ve heard of investments that seemed appealing to the eyes but ended badly.

The only way to know that you have sown rightly is by allowing God to guide you. When you give Him the first place in your life, every other thing will start working perfectly. If you are divinely guided by God, you won’t enter into any trap set by the enemy, and all-round rest will be your new song. Divine direction is not only important in the sowing phase but all other stages.

Prayer of Salvation

If you are yet to know Jesus and want to re-dedicate your life to Him, please repeat the salvation prayer below.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today as a sinner, I surrender to you. Forgive me all my sins, wash me clean by your blood, and deliver me from the power of sin and death. I believe that you died for me and on the third day you rose again. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. Thank you, Lord, for delivering me from the power of sin and death. I am delivered, I am saved and now a child of God.

Congratulations my dear brother and sister. Now a brand new you have emerged because if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5: 17). If you just surrendered to Jesus, you can reach us lychicrafts@gmail.com to stay in touch.
