Respect is of importance in our society. As believers, we are called to respect one another. That being said, it is very important not to mistake guarding your territory or resisting the devil with disrespect.

In life’s journey, there have been many misconceptions. I will give two examples of this.

First, when you find out someone has a negative impact on your life or drags you in the wrong direction and you decide to stay away, people may start to say that you have an unforgiving heart, oh you are keeping malice, and so on. They may even want to stage a reconciliation but this is a recipe for disaster.

Bible Passage

Psalm 1 vs 1- 3 says;

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

This Bible passage gives the answer to the false belief that staying away from a person driving you in the wrong direction with no grudge in your heart is malice keeping.

The second example which is relevant to this post is the issue of respect.

There are cultures where respect is so vital even when it means one is being dragged to hell. You are expected to obey every instruction.

One thing I have noticed is that people who refuse to go the way of those going in the wrong direction are very much hated and seen as disrespectful.

There is a very thin line between respect and manipulation. Oh, this person is “high and mighty” his opinion is very much valued, so whatever he says just go with it, if you don’t you are tagged an outlaw. This is witchcraft manipulation.

Still on Respect

Another interesting area is your personal space. There are people that you let into your life that cause havoc. Such persons, when the Spirit of God opens your eyes to see who they really are, there is no space for respect or taking things easy. The Word of God tells us to resist the devil and he will flee not respect the enemy and he will bow out. Someone might say, “but they are not the enemy”. Well, the devil doesn’t come the way he is to cause havoc, among other means he uses humans as his agent. So, therefore, you are to resist every appearance of evil including humans who are his agents.

One thing I have noticed that is common to his agent is their slimy nature and the need to stay. They always want to find their way in regardless of how one speaks to them. These are not the kind of people to treat with respect. Go straight to the root and cut it down. If not, they will CAPITALIZE on every kindness you show to them and then find their way in.

Some will say, but God says to show love to everyone. This person is gunning for your life through the enemy, you don’t play kind with the devil. it’s your duty to take responsibility,

Bible Passage

Isaiah 54: 17 says;

[17] No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

You are the one to condemn not God. If you don’t play your part, God will not do it for you. Until your part is played, a breakthrough is not in view.

It is really wisdom to know when to follow the commandment of love and when to condemn. My Father in the faith will say, “What you don’t want, you don’t watch, what you don’t resist has the right to remain. What you don’t confront, you cannot conquer”. You don’t confront or resist persons with respect.

May God help us know when to respect and when to confront. Amen
