Do you prefer to look strong in the eyes of people and then chicken out when challenges come your way or you prefer to look like a weakling but when challenges come your way, the giant in you comes alive?

There are times when we see people who have an aura like a mighty man and yet fall like a chicken and those we thought couldn’t do anything rising up like giants and taking authority. Asides from the Biblical example of David and Goliath, this is still taking place in this present day and age.

I’ve heard of a pastor who was slapped badly by armed robbers and another lady, not known by people, smallish in stature, during the difficult labour of her relative, she commanded the baby to come out immediately and the baby did.

There is another testimony of a little girl, speaking to a pastor she said, “Lord get that junk out of him”. Afterall, he really did have junk in him that needed to get out. The pastor thought he was heading the right path but he was only practicing religion.

One can say that humility is key to working with God. God is not a respecter of person, your title holds zero value to Him, it’s your heart that He is after. Do you love God or you love fame/ money, the world. God cannot be deceived and He searches the heart of man to Jer. 17: 10.

Live a Holy life

Heb. 12: 14 says, “Follow Peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”. Your salvation needs to be intact to be a spiritual giant. Those who are not standing right with God and try to fake authority will likely have a bitter experience.

How to become a spiritual giant irrespective of your outward look.

Hunger and thirst after righteousness

Matthew 5: 6 says, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”. Righteousness is having a right standing with God. Always wanting to do what is right in the eyes of God, not looking at what others may say or do. Most people in this category will have a lot of people against them. It’s usually them + God against the world. So many Biblical examples. In Fact, I don’t know of any kingdom giant in the Bible who didn’t experience this. These people had and have a different way of life compared to others.

Love for God

1 Corinthians 2: 9. This passage has made it clear the benefits those who love God receive. The depth of your love for God determines how much revelation you have of Him and remember that those who know their God, they shall be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32). This love of God was very obvious in the life of Abrahan, Isaac, Jacob, David, Elijah, Elisha, Peter, Paul, John, etc. The amount of love you have for God is proportional to your greatness in life.

Prayer and Fasting

To grow in the realm of the spirit/ empowerment, we need to add prayer and fasting. Prayer and fasting results in the generation of power which in turn leads to an outbreak of revelation. Also, when experiencing long-lasting issues or in a difficult situation, we should engage them both to be victorious. Most times when we engage this mystery, God opens our eyes to see the solution to the problem and instructs us on what to do to have our victory.

Furthermore,

The Word of God

We feed our spirit-man through the Word of God. We invite the Holy Spirit to open our understanding when studying the Word of God. Just as we eat daily so we can have the strength to do other things, the spirit-man if not fed regularly will become weak and spiritual weakness is a risk. We get to know more about God and how He operates by feeding on the Word of God.

Praise/ Worship

Like, It’s said that praise is what to do when you don’t know what next to do. Why does praise work so much? God inhabits the praises of His people. When God comes down in praise, every issue of long continuance turns into a testimony. For this to happen, your heart must be connected to God, no distractions.

How to go about this when one is challenged

Whatever burden you may be going through be it sickness/ disease, you may even be feeling weak, let your heart connect with God. After asking for forgiveness of sins, forget about what is wrong with you, focus all your attention on Him. If you have a music player, let it play-on and follow the song whole heartedly. This could take 45mins, 1 hour or more but make sure your heart is connected to God. Prayer and worship should not only be done when one has a challenge but it’s important to do it always to enjoy divine presence.

Doing these enables us to grow spiritually and end up becoming giants in the kingdom of God.
