The gap between the rich and poor is quite wide. There are more people in poverty than those in affluence. We all came to planet earth as babies equally. No one was already a medical doctor or professor in his/ her mother’s womb. We have been given equal 24 hours in a day, equal days in a week then what could have gone wrong to cause such a huge gap between those in need and those who are not?

There are various factors that could account for this such as family background/ upbringing, rich versus poor homes, mental ability, friends/ peers, and the list goes on and on. One fact that remains true and has been swept under the carpet by religion is that God didn’t make some people poor and others rich.

What does God say concerning this?

God has given us equal opportunities and also told us in His Word that we have a great destiny in the finished work of Christ. This destiny is one of royalty (1 Peter 2:9), it is one meant for the world to see (Matthew 5: 16). It will keep getting better and better until God calls us home or till Jesus returns which is the perfect day (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Although there are varying factors why there is such a gap between the rich and poor, God’s factor remains constant. This doesn’t change because He is the same yesterday, today and forever and the scriptures cannot be broken. Some believers don’t even believe what God says in the scriptures concerning them and that’s why they can’t see any proof in their lives. As subtle as the Word of God may seem, it is powerful, sharper than 2 edged sword that divides the soul and spirit and discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4: 12). A surgeon’s scalpel can’t do this.

There is hope

The good news is, regardless of your background, where you are, what you do or how old you are, there is hope for a turn around. There are various beliefs. Some say a large number of people who succeed actually come from humble backgrounds and work extra hard to get to the top. Others say that those who come from rich homes hardly succeed because everything is handed to them on a platter of gold and may not understand what struggling to succeed really means. Unfortunately there are still those who believe that one has to be poor to make Heaven.

At the end of the day, what matters is God’s standard. There are various forms of wealth. There is one that comes with peace of mind and extends to generations after you while there is another that comes with  trouble and fear. Which one would you rather have?

Way forward

They say hard work will pay off, hmmmmmm. There are people, despite all their hard work after working as an elephant, they end up eating like an ant. Hard work will only pay off when it’s channeled in the right direction.

A number of people are struggling in life, no results, business stagnation, life just seems very hard and difficult. In this type of situation, the first question to ask is, “am I doing what God wants me to do”. In majority of cases, the answer is no. When you are in God’s plan for your life, all these negative things don’t show up. Now, there is a difference between stagnation and trials. Stagnation is being on the same spot for a varying length of time without any proof of improvement. Trial on the other hand means that you are moving or making headway but there are situations you need to go through that will get you matured for the next level. Trails lead to promotion but stagnation leads to frustration.

Continuation

Not being in the right calling is the number 1 reason why we have a huge gap between the rich and the poor. God loves each and everyone of us, He is not partial. The more we know Him and obey His rules, the higher we fly.

There are people who are not aware that we have specific missions given to us by God. There are others who are aware of this and know that they are in the wrong place but don’t want to turn away because they’ve already gone so far following their own path. It is not about what we want but what God wants for us and it’s better to start from the scratch than to have one’s labour wasted at the end of it all.

Asides from one’s hard work being productive and having access to the great destiny that God has given you, there are other benefits that come with being in God’s plan for your life. This includes divine protection (People who follow their own plan will end up being outside God’s will and are at risk of losing His protection because of disobedience). One who is In the will of God will hear God regularly and your protection is guaranteed. As God leads you, His presence goes with you. Also, there is no fear of the unknown, there is peace, all round rest and you will end up fulfilling your destiny in grand style.
