This post is about the type of friend on has, whether having few friends is okay.

Jane, a Lawyer in one of the most prestigious universities was narrating how life has been for her so far. Jane has had her own fair share when it comes to relationships with people.

Growing up, she was a very pleasant and jovial child. She had lots of friends and people just liked her. Getting to secondary school (high school), she noticed how people were faking friendship. At this point, she began to doubt the friends she had whether they were real or not.

This attitude was new to Jane at the time as she was a very sincere person who hated gossip. She also noticed that people pretended to like/ enjoy other people’s company all because they had something to gain from it. This was quite rampant. If Jane decides to join them, she would lose lots of “friends”. She had a decision to make.

Life as we see it

As people grow, they begin to see the need to have a small number of friends that affect them positively. It is better to have small friends with good intentions that many friends with wrong motives. As I said in the previous post, the company one keeps is very important.

If you call someone your friend and you are not able to tell him or her the truth about things but would rather lie to make the person feel better or vice versa, then you need to check that friendship. If one is your friend only in good times but never bad times, then you have to check it. Also, if your so-called “friend” is always taking from you and has nothing to add to your life, it is only a matter of time before they disappear into thin air.

The one friend I can recommend for anyone who wants peace of mind is the Spirit of God. The Father has given Him to us as a gift and we can speak to Him every days of our lives. To know more about Him, read the Bible and books on the Holy Spirit written by Kenneth. E. Hagin and Benny Hinn.

If you want to surrender to Jesus, take this salvation prayer.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today as a sinner, I surrender to you. Forgive me all my sins, wash me clean by your blood, and deliver me from the power of sin and death. I believe that you died for me and on the third day you rose again. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. Thank you Lord, for delivering me from the power of sin and death. I am delivered, I am saved and now a child of God.

Advice: Make hay while the sun shines.

Proverbs 10: 5 (NLT) A wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.
