There have been stories of children of God who are having difficult times in careers, marriage, finances, etc.

People say things like; Isn’t he a child of God? Doesn’t she have God’s covering upon her life? Why is she going through so much hardship?

I would love to answer the question using scripture. This is even more appropriate because today, as this post is being written is Thursday the week of Easter when Jesus gave us redemption.

Matthew 26: 38-39 (ESV).

38 Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.”

39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

This was Jesus speaking before He was crucified. It was during this Easter week all these happened.

Jesus understands the pain of man because He came to earth in the complete form of man despite being God. If Jesus, the only begotten son of God had to suffer, do you really think you will escape it?

It’s true that Jesus did all this for us to have a better life but to be all that God wants you to be, there is a process you will need to follow with includes suffering/ trials.

(Luke 22: 28).

There is still some good here. Someone may ask, “what good can ever come from suffering/ hardship?”.

Remember the Bible is a book of good news, although some parts may be bitter to man (which contains the instructions, and rebukes), it’s majorly for our benefit. Once we follow through, the blessings will not be hidden.

The good thing about this is that the suffering one goes through in Christ is totally different from what the enemy inflicts on man.

How so?

Firstly, children of God suffer because they have been associated with Jesus. Just as the enemy hates Jesus, he hates believers also. The benefit of this is, that God rewards us handsomely for being a partaker of Christ’s sufferings (Matthew 5; 11-12). The harm from the enemy cannot be compared to the reward we receive from our Heavenly Father, it’s not just earthly but also eternal.

Secondly, the suffering is not forever. The Word of God tells us that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30: 5). Once the trial/ suffering period is over, God takes us into our rest.

Jesus, after all the horrible things they did to Him leading up to His death, on the third day, came back to life triumphantly. The impact was felt to the extent that people who were already dead, rose again after Jesus was risen and appeared to their relatives (Matthew 27: 53). It didn’t stop there, after spending some days on earth, He was taken up to Heaven and is now seated on the right side of God.

How does this apply?

This also applies to true children of God. You can’t partake in Christ’s sufferings and not also partake in His glory while on earth and in eternity, the two go together.

When you see children of God who suddenly become famous, doing mighty works, if you ask them some questions, one thing is very common. They have experienced the valley/ trial season. During that time, people may have thought they were possessed by the devil because of all the attacks, and that’s where question asking takes place. Such as; why will such a child of God go through all this despite what he/ she has served God?

Many only see the glorification but don’t see the valley/ sacrifice they had to make to be where they are.

Continued

Furthermore, although God allows the enemy to touch some areas of our lives which results in difficulties/trials like Job when the time is over, you will become like them that dreamed. God is the master planner.

These written words are not for those still under the authority of the devil but for those who are true children of God because there is a huge difference.

Taking a cue from the Bible, we clearly saw God at work in the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Daniel, Moses, Joseph, Elijah, Esther, Paul Peter, etc. We also know of their valley experiences.

If because of this, one thinks working with the enemy is better, that’s an error and doesn’t mean such an individual will escape suffering. The suffering will not just be on earth but forever and ever. I will tell you more about this in the next post.
