Each and every one of us has been placed on earth for a specific purpose. People offer various forms of advice which may be good or bad. As little children, we were taught by our parents, teachers, guardians the difference between right and wrong. When we begin growing up, we develop wisdom and are able to distinguish between right and wrong. This makes us responsible for every wrong decision we make. Some people, even though they know the difference between right and wrong, their attitude and decision are based on what others think of them making them dependent on what others say. Their lives become driven by what others believe is good for them whether or not it comes from a genuine heart.

This is the reason why self-development is very important. As much as it is good to receive advice from family members, friends etc, one can only be sure of one receives from God. Every other thing is gambling.

Some Examples

Using a child brought up in a good home as an example. When it’s time for the person to get married, the parents begin to choose a spouse for him/her. Reasons being that he/ she is from a particular family and people in that family are well behaved. Another could be, because they are both from the same town or some other forms of earthly excuses.

In most cases, this is not the kind of person God has ordained for one. When you finally get married to this person, because you don’t want to be seen as a disobedient child, divorce becomes inevitable. Some might even end up dying in that marriage.

The same goes for one’s career. Some people are doing a particular job because they were advised by some people that it’s the perfect job for them while deep down they know it isn’t. The fear of hurting people holds more importance to them compared with the job they do. Some it’s their parents channeling them towards a particular path because the parents love the profession or it’s a family business. You came to earth on your own even though you may have come through your parents. Departing this world would also be on your own. Everyone will be rewarded according to what he/she does on earth, according to the advice he/she receives or rejects on earth. Some people have missed out on destiny because of wrong advice.

Working on yourself

People will tell you this and that, what they believe is good for you but remember that you are totally responsible for the outcome of your life. Whatever decision you make determines the outcome you get. One might ask, how do I know the decision that is right for me? Who do I ask in order not to get into trouble? You need approval from God.

One needs to have a relationship with God, ask Him questions, communicate regularly with Him. Don’t only call for His help when you are in trouble. God the Holy Spirit is on earth with us, He is Omniscience and Omnipresent. He is very close to us and not as far as we believe or expect Him to be.

There are decisions I made in my life that nobody was really in support of, I was basically on my own. I had so much confidence that it was for my good because the Holy Spirit was in full support of the decision. Now that I look back to how things are, I am so grateful to God that I took that step. If not for His help, I would have looked back. I tell you sometimes it’s not easy to stand on what you believe in when the pressure becomes too much. The way this will be possible is having God on your side.

Our human sense is not enough for us to see what is in front of us. It’s only someone that sees what you can’t see that you can put your trust in.

Other cases

There are times God uses people or situations to lead us in a particular direction, it is our responsibility to seek confirmation from God. Sometimes our friends may give us advice regarding a particular situation which might actually seem reasonable but when you ask God, you discover that He does not want you to be a part of it. Brother Hagin (Sr) in one of his tapes spoke about a man that never went bankrupt because every business deal he engaged in was always approved by God.

There was also another man whose large sum of money would have crashed if the man had not listened to the leading of God not to invest in the Titanic ship before it sank. The deal was so enticing that anyone who had the opportunity to invest but didn’t do so seemed “foolish”. God who sees all things knows the beginning from the end.

Sometimes what God tells us to do might not look like it, just obey. When we walk closely with God, sometimes one makes decisions that others regard as foolish. The end result is usually victorious.

Before I end, there is something important I’ll like to add. It is important that you accept Jesus into your life if you haven’t and let Him be your personal Lord and Saviour. If you are in this category, join me in the salvation prayer.

   SALVATION PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I come as a sinner, forgive me all my sins, cleanse me with your blood. I accept you today as my personal Lord and Saviour, I am free from all powers of sin, to serve the living God.
